Our Impact
In the last grant cycle, United Way of South Mississippi awarded $400,000 in Community Impact Grants to 14 local agencies who support our initiatives.
United Way of South Mississippi operates 11 tuition-free PreK classrooms in the Harrison County and Gulfport School districts, serving 220 four-year-old students.
During the SNAP benefits crisis, United Way of South Mississippi provided food for 141 families (647 people) at North Woolmarket Elementary, Central Elementary & Moore Community House; and 676 families (2,704 people) through local mobile pantries.
The 2026 Hancock County Community Baby Shower served approximately 40 families through the opportunity to attend an informative time of guest speakers and vendors and/or the receipt of a car seat or pack ‘n play.
1,985 children are currently enrolled in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, and 220,293 books have been mailed since 2013.
The 2025 Fill the Bus School Supply Drive provided supplies for 46,880 children.
30,927 diapers and 5,854 wipes were donated during the 2026 Martin Luther King, Jr. Diaper Drive.

“A fifth grader was reading below the third-grade level. He had a hard time spelling and sounding out letters. Although we do not usually get the older students; we were able to bring him in with some one-on-one tutoring. He went up one grade level, and improvement was evident in his schoolwork and MAP testing through the school. He has a way to go as yet but has progressed within our program.”

Program: DHS Navigator
“A single mother entered the Navigator Program after CPS became involved due to allegations of substance abuse, placing both her stability and her teenage son’s well-being at risk. With support from her Navigator case manager, she committed to meaningful change, successfully achieving sobriety and remaining fully compliant with her Family Treatment Court requirements. Throughout her journey, she worked closely with her case manager to navigate and complete her CPS service plan while also securing stable housing for her family. The program provided practical tools, including budgeting assistance, which helped her build a stronger financial foundation. Equally important, her teenage son, who had been struggling, was connected with counseling services, giving him the support he needed to address his challenges. Together, they have made significant progress toward a healthier, more stable future, demonstrating resilience and a strong commitment to positive change.”
