The mission of United Way of South Mississippi is to support the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community, especially those in need. United Way of South Mississippi is committed to assuring equal opportunity and equal consideration to all qualified applicants and employees in personnel matters consistent with all applicable federal or state laws and regulations. United Way of South Mississippi will continue to provide funding for solutions that target diverse populations as identified through community assessment, research and volunteer engagement to include everyone and to exclude no one based on characteristics that makes us unique as individuals.
Diversity and Inclusion in Volunteer Recruitment:
United Way of South Mississippi is committed to the recruitment of individuals to fill volunteer positions within the organization without regard to all human characteristics that make us unique as individuals. United Way of South Mississippi will aggressively seek volunteers from area communities who reflect and acknowledge the value of diversity and inclusion and embody it in their personal actions.
Diversity and Community Impact:
United Way of South Mississippi is committed to the delivery and provision of service to meet the needs of area communities as identified through formal and informal assessments, research and volunteer engagement. United Way of South Mississippi will partner with organizations that demonstrate the commitment to provide service and advocate for change in accordance with applicable law and demonstrate a commitment to the spirit of United Way of South Mississippi’s Diversity and Inclusion Policy.
The Board of Directors, management, staff and volunteers must create and sustain an environment that encourages diverse viewpoints and inclusive behavior. The Executive Committee will review this policy and its effectiveness on a bi-annual basis. The committee will also oversee and foster the development of initiatives that support the Diversity and Inclusion Policy of United Way of South Mississippi.
