Forest Heights and Qatar Center Success Stories

Taia has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club for four years. She is an academic superstar! Taia loves coming to the Club so that she can get help with school work and continue to excel. Thanks to her time at Stride Academy, Taia has improved her Reading and Language Arts grades, and she has made some great advancements in the process. She is now an Honor Roll student and strives to be great!  Taia was even awarded a certificate for having the highest score on the 3rd Grade Reading State Assessment for our Club.  It was also the highest score in her school!  Taia has also been named Club Youth of the Month for her leadership in and out of the classroom. She's a truly amazing person!  Taia says that she loves the Boys & Girls Club because it teaches her success and that she is somebody.  We're so proud of her!

Mayleigh and Raeleigh Watkins are 6 year old twins who absolutely love to read.  In order to enhance the interest for our youngest kids in reading, members in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade are helped daily in Stride.  They also participate in storytime three times a week as part of our High Yield Reading program at the start of each school year. The twins were the first to become “book ready,” and they always show up with a favorite book in their bags.  They like to either read on their own or to the group, and they are always the most eager to take on the challenge of reading to the group. They are still six and learning, but their eagerness and energy has gotten other members excited to bring in their favorite books too!
