You can be proud of your gift to United Way of South Mississippi.  Each year, we continue to invest in the priority areas of education, income (financial stability) and health.  We track results and outcomes, so we know that the work we do is creating measurable impact.  Children are better educated, health and human services are more accessible, and families are more independent. 

We know that together, united with our agency partners, donors, volunteers, and community leaders, we are addressing South Mississippi's most significant challenges.

For example, in the past three years, with United Way's leadership: 

Education:  Your gift nurtures children to succeed. 

375 children received affordable, quality child care while their parents worked or went to school.  93% met their developmental milestones.
6,374 youth received quality afterschool care while their parents worked or went to school

7,095 youth participated in scouting programs

 3,830 youth learned valuable life skills

Income (Financial Stability):  Your gift shelters families. 

335 homes were built or repaired

1,135 people participated in home buyer education and counseling

144 people received rental assistance and were stabilized for at least six months

Health:  Your gift provides solutions and creates opportunity.

46,647 calls were answered from women victimized by domestic violence

963 women were placed in a safe haven

601 adults and children learned new life skills such as anger management, parenting skills

6,542 persons received counseling services following hurricanes Katrina and Gustav
